JULY SPOTLIGHT: Core fitness - beyond crunches.
Your body's core involves 29 muscles around your trunk and pelvis, including your gluteal muscles. This is where your center of gravity is located and where all movement in your body originates.
When you have good core strength, the muscles in your pelvis, lower back, hips and abdominals work in harmony. They provide support for your spine. A strong core gives you: 1. Increased protection and "bracing" for your back. 2. Controlled movement. 3. A more stable center of gravity. 4. A more stable platform for sports and all movement forms. Basic exercises that will enhance core fitness include the bridge pose, the plank and side plank, balancing quadruped and abdominal sit-ups, just to name a few. The BOSU ball is a great tool for enhancing core fitness.

Class Descriptions -
Thalassic Beach Walk: Walk barefoot in the ocean and briskly in the soft sand, meditate by the water’s edge and savor the benefits of the sea. Please wear shorts, as you will be near the ocean’s edge and might get wet. We will supply the sandals.
Montage Yoga Ritual: Experience the benefits of yoga by uniting mind, body and breath with the elements of the ocean. All levels welcome.
Yoga Core: Benefit from yoga and Pilates techniques to achieve core strength, improved posture, spinal mobility, and sculpted abs.
Vinyasa Yoga: Balance, lengthen, and strengthen your body through a dynamic flow of postures, linking breath, and movement.
Power Yoga: Strengthen and invigorate the body and mind through challenging sequences designed to increase vitality.
Restorative Yoga: Nurture your body and mind with deep relaxation in supportive and calming postures.
Montage Mini Yoga: Our younger guests can experience the benefits of yoga through creative play and sensory perception. Fridays and Sundays through the summer on the oceanfront lawn or in Paintbox; 10-10:30, ages 2-8 and 10:10-11:30, ages 9-15.
Cardio Dance Fusion: Experience the ultimate in fusion fitness. You will benefit from aerobic training through cardio dance and martial arts movement, strength work, and stretch through yoga postures, as well as, exercises specifically for developing core strength. Shoes optional as it is a non to low impact class.
Global Dance: Shape and sculpt your body while learning new choreography. This class draws on a variety of dance styles- including Salsa, Belly dancing, Hip-Hop, and Tai Chi.
Montage Spin-n-Stretch: Improve your cardiovascular system with this multi-level interval training spin class followed by 10 minutes of stretch.
Beach Boot Camp: Enjoy a heart-pumping and exhilarating class on the beach. You will be put to the test through a series of intervals, sprints, pushups, and stair climbing, finishing up with a hardcore abdominal workout. Prepare to sweat!
BOSU: Challenge your stabilizing core muscles. An acronym for ‘both sides up’, the BOSU utilizes two surfaces, a dome side and a platform side, to develop core strength, enhance agility, and improve overall balance.
Body Blast: Re-shape your body and strengthen your muscles by fusing principles from traditional body sculpting, functioning training, core and balance work. Focus on form, alignment, and body awareness with this refreshing approach to exercise and movement.
